The Caprivi region of Namibia houses about 80 000 people, mainly tribal folk who make their living by subsistence farming along the banks of the main rivers. It is a strange offshoot of Namibia, and a legacy of regional border disputes and changes. Most of the folk living in this area are more closely related to those of neighbouring territories than the rest of the Namibian population. The floodplains of the Caprivi offer wildlife adventures comparable to those of the Okavango and Chobe National Parks in Botswana. Mahango National Park's diverse vegetation, ranging from riverine forest to floodplain provides a wonderful wildlife habitat, and is renowned for large herds of elephant and its populations of red lechwe and sitatunga, as well as buffalo, sable and roan antelope, and a bird population of over 400 species.

The following tours include a visit to Namibia's Caprivi region in the itinerary:

Cape to Victoria Falls
Cape to Victoria Falls

(Cape, Namibia, Botswana, Victoria Falls). The route from Cape Town to Victoria Falls is considered by many as the "crème-de-le-crème" of southern African eco-safari tours. Starting at the beautiful, lush and sophisticated metropolis of Cape Town, this safari traverses the harsh but intriguing thirstlands of the Northern Cape and the unforgiving Namib Desert, as well the wildlife sanctuaries of Etosha National Park, the Okavango Delta, Caprivi floodplains, and the Chobe National Park, ending at the Victoria Falls.

Namibian Wildlife

Northern and Western Namibia is often known as the "the Land God made in Anger"! It contains some of the starkest and harshest environments known to man, and some of Africa's most unique wildlife sanctuaries, coupled with a captivating beauty and a sense of solitude and reality that is rarely experienced in today's world.
