Description
|
An early wake-up call is
required to beat the elephants to the bathroom. We head out early to the
Elephant Sanctuary, near Hartebeestpoort Dam. After assisting with the morning
brush-down and grooming of these fascinating creatures, we join them for their
morning walk, interact with them and assist in feeding them. Eventually we bid
our new friends goodbye, and continue to a craft Village just down the road,
where we have the opportunity of browsing through this large market, admiring
the various handicrafts on display.
After lunch, we continue to De Wildt, one of South Africa's
best known Cheetah rescue and rehabilitation centres. Several endangered
species are bred at the centre (including wild dog, brown hyena and cheetahs),
and you may to come into pretty close contact with some of these
creatures.
